The Two Ditches at the Kitchen Table

Why passive men and podcast tyrants are making the exact same mistake.

The Two Ditches at the Kitchen Table

I've been watching the replies come in all afternoon on the posts about husbands and the kitchen table, and you can see the split happening in real time.

See, a woman usually gets handed one of two broken deals today. She marries a guy who dumps every hard decision in her lap and calls his passivity "keeping the peace," or she gets a guy who watched three clips on headship and barks about authority when he hasn't opened his Bible since Easter.

Both men are doing what Adam did in the garden.

"And she gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." (Genesis 3:6)

Adam was right there with her, and he stayed quiet while she took the heat. Then when God walked into the garden and called his name, Adam pointed his finger at the woman God gave him.

Look at how Paul cuts through the noise in Ephesians 5:25:

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" (Ephesians 5:25)

Christ didn't walk away from the cross, and He didn't use the bride to feed His ego. He bled for her first. When a man takes the heaviest load in the house on his own back and opens the Word at his own table with his wife and kids, he doesn't have to announce he's the head of the home.
