Hello friends! I hope this newsletter finds you well!
This is my bi-monthly newsletter, a little place where we catch up on all things Biblical Womanhood, as well as all things within our family! I plan to include prayer requests for the month, and I invite you all to leave a prayer request in the comments so we can all “bear one another’s burdens” together!
Please ♥️ this post, comment, and subscribe! Interactions with each post help keep my Substack visible for others!
BLAKE UPDATE:
I’ll start with the cutest update!
Blake is continuing to do very well! He has started eating solid foods in the past couple of months! His mommy is doing such a good job at making him yummy homemade purées full of nutrition and healthy fats! He has gained weight really well recently, and though still small he is up to 15lb 3oz! Praise the Lord. He has been able to drop down to the last step on his oxygen before room air.
Also, he got his very first tooth last week!
And he got his first pair of tiny sandals! Haha!
Prayer requests for Blake:
1. We are still praying that he is able to come off the oxygen soon! Please pray! Their family will be moving to Kentucky in June to assist with a rural church. It would be very helpful if Blake is off oxygen completely before they move!
2. With that being said, please pray for their family as they move, and begin to work diligently within ministry. My son graduates from Bible college in two weeks!
Thank you again for all of your prayers & support of this little miracle!
How’s it going?
Just wanted to drop in and encourage those of you striving to read through your whole Bible this year!
Either way I’d love to hear how things are going! I know life happens, and sometimes we fall behind—but continue to be diligent in this endeavor, you will never regret reading through your whole Bible…even if it takes more than a year!
I’d love to hear what everyone is reading this month!
I personally just started this memoir on pioneer missionaries to China! I picked this one up at our library’s Spring used book sale.
“Feminine Need, Wants, & Flaws”
Many of you remember my “Feminine Need” series I wrote a couple months back. So many of you read those pieces, shared them, wrestled with them, and wrote to me privately about how deeply they touched places in your own heart, marriage, home, and womanhood.
The truth is, I had more to say.
Far more than could fit neatly into Substack posts.
So, I have been gathering those thoughts, expanding them, refining them, and building them into a small digital booklet that walks honestly through the God-given needs of a woman, the desires that can be beautiful when rightly ordered, and the flaws that so easily twist those desires into sin.
This booklet will be ready this coming weekend! I am pre selling this booklet as a “pay what you want” fundraiser.
This is both a pre-order and, in a very real sense, a small fundraiser for our family during this coming season.
If you have been helped by this ministry, if the words here have strengthened your home, convicted your heart, encouraged your marriage, steadied you as a mother, or helpedyou think more clearly about biblical womanhood, this is a tangible way to stand behind the work.
NOTE: you can choose to CHANGE the amount on the invoice. It is pre set at $10, but any amount is allowed. Thank you!
Teriyaki Chicken Tacos with Creamy Cucumbers
Borrowed from “Flavorful Life” recipe blog
For the chicken:
1lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
Pinches of salt and pepper
1/3 cup + 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
For the cucumbers:
1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons mayo
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon Asian Chili Crunch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup fresh herbs, finely minced (cilantro & green onions)
1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 large English cucumber or 3–4 Persian cucumbers, thinly sliced
Chicken part one: season the chicken thighs on both sides with big pinches of kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper. Place them in an instant pot and add 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce. Toss to the chicken to fully coat each thigh with sauce. Place the lid on the instant pot and set it to sealing. Set the pot to pressure cook for ten minutes.
Creamy cucumbers: thinly slice cucumbers (I like to use my mandolin for this) Whisk together the dressing. Combine Greek yogurt, mayo, rice vinegar, sweet chili sauce, sesame oil, chili crunch and salt until well combined. Toss the dressing with the cucumbers and fresh herbs. I like to reserve a couple tablespoons of dressing to drizzle on the finished tacos.
Chicken part two: natural release or quick release the pressure from the instant pot. Remove chicken and use tongs, two forks or your fingers to shred the chicken, it should fall apart easily. Place shredded chicken on a lined baking sheet. Preheat oven to broil. Drizzle with the remaining ¼ cup teriyaki sauce and two tablespoons sweet chili sauce, toss to coat the chicken in sauces. Broil for 3-6 minutes (watch closely because all ovens are different!) until the chicken is crispy and caramelized with dark edges around some of the pieces. Remove from the oven.
Assemble: warm the tortillas. Layer each tortilla with crispy teriyaki chicken, creamy cucumber and herbs, sliced avocado, an extra drizzle of the dressing, crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. So, so good.
“The Things We Have Wrought: 25 Lessons in 25 Years on Life, Marriage, Parenthood, and Ministry.”
This project will be part memoir, part lesson.
We will tell more of our story than we ever have publicly.
The early struggles.
The hard seasons.
The growth.
The things we would do differently.
The things we would fiercely defend.
The lessons forged in sleepless nights and tight budgets.
The ways God corrected us, humbled us, and carried us.
For those who would like to get behind this project and show support and interest, we are offering the option to reserve your digital copy now with a $5.99 “deposit.”
That deposit will go directly toward the final purchase price when the book launches, and those who chose reserve early will also receive a deeper discount at release.

What’s going on in our house this month?
We have SUCH a busy May/early June! Our two eldest children are graduating from Bible college the last week of May in FL—and then we have to all get home to ND for our oldest daughter’s wedding the first Friday in June 😳! We are so excited for this busy season, but it is a lot of details and miles!
Our middle daughter also will be graduating from high school (homeschool) this season! Lots of changes for our family!
We appreciate your prayers during this full & busy season!
Another exciting thing happening this month is the upcoming launch of our app “FaithWall.”
FaithWall helps you set your phone to keep apps of your choosing locked until you have met your scripture reading goals for the morning. We also have a Family Wall option for you to set up a Wall for your family member’s devices as well.
Together your family works to build a Wall of Faith each day as they meet their goal. This is a great way to limit screen time, encourage your family to read & pray BEFORE they scroll, and work together as a family with built in accountability.
Currently we have a special price for those who want to get behind the development of this app. This is a limited time offer to lock in your cost as a founding member of the app.
Once the app launches officially the cost will be structured differently.
Please go read more about our FaithWall app here:
We are hoping this app will be available in the App Store first for Apple devices, and then Android devices shortly after. We are praying that both will be up and running by early June 2026. We are in the final development process now.
We appreciate your support & prayers in this endeavor!
“…Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”
—1 Chronicles 28:20 KJV
May we all be diligent in our work for the service of the Lord! God is faithful!
